Sometimes I impress myself. I made a post when Emilee was 7 months old (August 2009) that included pictures of her in the laundry basket. Well, that was mostly forgotten until a week ago. I was doing laundry and lugging Logan around with me, and then it hit me. I need a picture of him in the laundry basket!!!! Lucky for me, Logan obliged. Here he is.

(I think he is SOOOOOO HANDSOME!!! Look how his eyes match the blue in his shirt. I love it!)


After the photo shoot, I got on the blog to find out when I'd done pictures with Emilee. Pretty darn close. Logan is 6 months old. Sooooooo, for comparison...Enjoy!

Crafty

I decided that the outside of our house needed some dressing up since our lawn is dead, and the easiest thing for me to come up with was a holiday wreath. When I went to find one, I didn't want to spend a lot of money, so I decided to make my own. It really wasn't much cheaper than buying one already made. Actually, I used pine cones that Emilee had found and brought home so that kept the cost down (hehe). But, this gave me experience and forced me to be creative. It also helped me ignore my children for a while.

It took longer than I thought, too. We'll see if I'm willing to make a Christmas wreath or if I break down and just buy one.

Halloween

Here are a few pictures the day before when we carved our pumpkins. We had our friends over for the night . . . the dog belongs to them.

bath time

We went to the park for Family Home Evening tonight. When we got home, we decided bathtime was in order. Here are some cute pics of the kids taking their first bath together (sort of).

Homesick

Okay, that's not really the best title, I suppose. The truth is just that I'm sick of not being at home. We are hoping that things will finish up this week. *Fingers crossed* If you have no idea what I'm talking about, I will get to that at a future date. You'll have to wait and wonder.

Last week Emilee helped me make red velvet cupcakes. Yum! Here she is enjoying the spoils during clean-up. Look how happy I made her. ;)

I decided to take pictures the other day of the kids post-double-diaper-change.I love my babies!
Finally, we went to the train park last Saturday with friends. I tried and tried to get the girls to look at me for a picture, but this one was the best I got. I wish I could say I planned it . . . it actually seems a bit artistic to me.

Needless to say, we are chugging along in life (sorry for the dumb pun). Britt's in the midst of school and work (tutoring on campus). And the rest of us are trying to get along.

Other highlights:

Emilee has asked to sit on the toilet a few times now. All she does it toot, but I feel like we're making progress.

Logan has now rolled from back to front (twice) and from front to back (twice). I suppose I should stop leaving him on the edge of the couch and changing table. (He's 4 months old, so he's right on track).

Emilee talks and talks and talks. She likes to recount things that have happened - sometimes events from the day and sometimes things from a week or more ago. She also quotes movies at random times -- this scares me because she appropriately fits her quote into what is happening at the moment(just like I would do). For example: we were sitting down to lunch, and she started talking, and the next thing I knew, she was saying, "You are free to eat" (from Kung Fu Panda). Haha! I swear I don't let her watch movies all the time. In fact, it's been at least a month since she's watched that one.

And, we are still waiting for our baby to "sleep through the night." He thinks it's great to wake up every few hours all night long. I am soooo tired! So I should be in bed now, but I have hopes that he will sleep for longer stretches tonight.

So much for a quick post. But there you have it.

Yes, we are surviving

So, it's been a bit rough for me, but we are all adjusting to our new family life. We've had a few little bumps since Logan was born, but we're getting through it all. I have learned that my ability to cope with life is strongly correlated to the amount of sleep I get. Who knew?

We love our little Logan! He gives us HUGE smiles all the time now. Britt has even gotten a few giggles -- so precious. Emilee is such a good helper (most of the time), and she even mimics me when talking to Logan. ;)

I hardly have time to sit down at the computer, but I decided to at least get some pictures up of what we have been doing the past few months. I would have put more pictures in the slideshow, but it was really slow on uploading them. More to come later, I guess. The slideshow takes you through the 4th of July. We will be blessing Logan in church on Sunday. We can't wait to have family here to share in this special moment.

busy, busy

We've been busy adjusting to being a family of 4, and we've been busy with summertime events as well. This video was raken at a friend's wedding reception in Yuma last week.

Logan Eugene Mehr

Happy Birthday, Logan! Logan was born on May 11, 2011 at 11:13am. He was 8lbs even and 20in long. He is absolutely perfect. I will post the full story later, but the highlights are:

Melinda had to come over in the middle of the night so we could go to the hospital.

My epidural worked to take away the pain of contractions!

Britt got to deliver Logan (with the help of our OB/Bishop)!!

Logan was born without complications so he stayed with us.

Emilee was able to come see him and mommy in the hospital.

We feel that he fits in with us already.

We've been adjusting to our new family member and change of routine with the help of my mom (thank goodness she's been here). Here are some fun pictures!

Oh, for those who want to know where the name is from, here's the brief version. Britt's Grandpa Mehr was born in Logan, UT, and we've liked the sound of Logan. Eugene is Grandpa Jewett's middle name. :)

Easter

We had a pretty good Easter, although I was worried for part of the day. The morning and evening were great, but in the middle Emilee was the break-down queen and was so tired she couldn't function. Luckily staying home from church for a nap did the trick. (Britt and I traded off so we could each go to part of the meetings.) So much for having Em dressed up in a cute Easter outfit and the family sitting all together at church, though. Sigh.

Anyhow, we decorated eggs Saturday night with Emilee. She had a full dozen to work with. I had a friend give me a tip to use a wire wisk for dye-ing as that would be easier for Em to hold on to. Thanks, Michelle!! We chose to only work with three colors to keep from getting too much mess. Emilee did a great job. She didn't want to let the eggs soak at all, so we started a game of counting to ten and twenty so the colors would be brighter. Britt got some video footage, so we may edit it and post that sometime. For now, I put together a slide show since I can never choose which pictures are best to put up.

The hunt on Easter morning was fun. We already play a hiding game with Emilee's toys, so as soon as we said she could find eggs, she took off. She is a speedy egg finder. There are more pictures from the hunt, too, but I did try narrowing pictures down. She was excited when she discovered (after the hunt was over) that the plastic eggs had treats inside. She tried a yellow jelly bean first and decided she didn't like it, so she spit it out. She refused the rest of the jelly beans after that. But, she was not deterred from looking for something better. She tried opening more of the eggs and finally discovered the M & Ms. Jackpot! She loves those and proceeded to shove them all in her mouth at once (just like Augustus on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). It was fun to watch. We then ate some of the hard-boiled eggs as part of breakfast. Emilee likes those too and wanted not one, not two, but three eggs. I actually stopped her at two so that we'd have eggs left over for another day.

Later in the morning we watched The Lamb of God together as a family. Emilee sat still for the whole thing, and I tried to point out parts that I wanted her to really get. As always, it made me a little teary to be reminded of such selfless love and sacrifice (and patience). Being a parent does put a different perspective on all that the Savior has done for us and our children. I know that Jesus Christ lives today! I am so grateful for His love and the love of Heavenly Father. What a blessing to know our purpose on earth and to know that we can some day return to live with our Heavenly Father.

To celebrate in the evening, we had Melinda and Robbie over to dinner. We had a delicious feast and really enjoyed the time to be with family. It's been so nice having some family close by.

Work and play, or, play and work

Okay, let's face it. I will probably not recap the last two months. However, I'll try to recap the last two weeks.

Last week I took Emilee to my sister's so we could go swimming. I figured we could splash around a little until I got tired. Much to our surprise they had a kiddie pool that was only 1 1/2 feet deep -- perfect for Emilee!! Yay! I told my sister we will have to utilize that this summer until she moves. (Boo on the moving, by the way!) Since Emilee took her ball to the pool, I decided to take mine as well. ;)

Emilee had fun splashing, throwing the ball, and "swimming" on her own. Emilee crouched down like a gorilla so only her head was out of the water and proceeded to walk around the pool. Then she said, "My swimming." She was quite proud of herself. I told Britt he can be the one to really teach her how to swim. Thanks, Melinda for letting us come over!

We've still been enjoying the opportunity to fix things up on our house (yes, I know I need to post pictures of the house still - I just haven't taken them yet). So, last week/end Britt re-did the caulking in the guest bathroom. It was his first time ever doing it, and even though it was more work than he expected, I think he liked it. Here he is scraping away the old goo.

He also fixed the sink in the master bathroom, but I didn't get pictures of that. Thank goodness Britt's parents were here so his dad could help him out. We're hoping we're finally done with repairs for a little while at least. With the baby coming, we'd like to just spend any extra time sleeping instead of working on little projects.
