Dancing Emilee

Emilee has loved the song, "If You're Happy and You Know It" for quite a while. If she hears it, she usually starts clapping her hands. Lately, I've been working with her on stomping her feet. She's finally gotten in to it. Now that's what she does when she hears the song (instead of clapping her hands). The other night, I wanted Emilee to show off for Daddy, and we were lucky enough to (finally) catch it on tape. Sorry for the background noises (ie: ME). Enjoy! She definitely loves music!!!

Oh, and by the way, if I do not receive an outpouring of comments, I will assume it is not worth the time to convert the video from the camera's file, crop the video, and upload it. :)

VACA

I had another post I was working on before our trip, but now it seems kind of silly. Maybe it will never make it up. Anywho . . . we just had a week long vacation. Yay! We went to Utah and Idaho to visit with our grandparents and my brother's family. All in all it was a good trip. And, it was a nice break from real life. However, I was stressed with having to pack up every other day. :( Emilee did a good job, even though she was sick throughout the week. As one of my co-workers said, "It was like going to a foreign country . . . don't drink the water!" Teehee.

We had a good time overall. Emilee had her first Easter egg hunt, and loved it. We wish we could have spent more time and could visit with everyone more often. 'Course anyone coming down our way is welcome too.

Emilee's first walk in the snow. It didn't bother her at all - she just plowed through it (pardon the pun).

Maestra Emilee

We haven't posted in awhile because of the much needed time and effort to develop our child prodigy. We have had extensive rehearsals, lessons, hours of daily practice and tutoring to increase her natural born capacities. Yes, about two months ago, we noticed something different about her, a "knack" as you might call it for all things musical. We're not just talking the "eatin' too many beans" music, but real music, amazing music.

Performed, without coercion, here is Miss Emilee Mehr's finest performance yet.

Yeah right! Hope you didn't get fooled by all that mumbo jumbo up top. It was a bunch of shmulooka.

Emilee's 1st Birthday

I guess I should have been more prompt. I posted on Facebook and then felt like I had things covered. For Emilee's birthday, Britt and I were both off work. We went to the zoo in the late morning. We enjoyed looking around, and Emilee had fun looking at and playing with other kids. When we were about done there, we found a spot to have a picnic. I can't wait to go to the zoo again. Maybe Emilee will get more excited about the animals as she gets older.

We ran errands in the afternoon (and stopped to see Uncle Devin) and made Emilee wait a while before getting her afternoon nap. Then, Grandpa & Grandma Mehr, Cousin Nadia, and Aunt Jamie came over for dinner.

After eating, we took time to open presents. Emilee was not interested in opening the gifts. Rather, she liked a box and the cards best. It was a little hard keeping her attention where I wanted it. Then, we had the cake!!! Emilee smashed her piece and hit it but didn't think to eat it. I grabbed a fork and helped her have a bite. That was all it took. She loved licking her whole hand as she shoved gooey, smooshed cake and frosting in her mouth! She also tried some ice cream and loved it! We had a blast sharing the fun that night. And, thank you Aunt Jamie for the photography!
