home decor

Sorry this one never got posted . . . it's totally old news. Just pretend we are still in September.

Melinda came over last week, and we went to the $ store to get some small items for a project I'm working on. While there, we found wall stickers and decided to try some out. I guess I was feeling decorative thinking about our upcoming Relief Society meeting on inexpensive home decortating. We ended up decorating Emilee's room together before she had to leave. Then I tackled the wall art for the living room. Here is the finished product.

I had to go letter by letter (I did not realize this in the store, or I probably wouldn't have gotten it to try). So, the pictures have been up for a while now, but I've been wanting to add something to the wall since. After spending most of Emilee's naptime on this, I decided it would be good enough. I like it. And, lucky for me, Britt approves of it as well.

First visit to dentist

Emilee had her first visit to the dentist last Tuesday. Unfortunately, I did not prepare to get pictures of the momentous occasion. I will insert pictures of the office from their website.

I thought it would be totally cool to go there . . . and it was. Emilee ran back and forth from the toys, games, and me.
When we got back to the exam room she wasn't so sure. After the hygenist came and brushed her teeth, Emilee wanted out. She started pointing to the door and saying "bye." Awww. We waited for the dentist anyway. When he came in and I sat down to hold her like we had just done for the hygenist, she started crying. I guess that worked for the dentist because her mouth was open wide.
All in all, I'd say the staff kept things short and had stickers after each unpleasant event. Then Emilee made out with other toys, toothbrush and paste, a t-shirt, and a helium baloon. I think she'll appreciate the pirate's booty more when she's older. We got told that her teeth look good and strong. :)

Fun pictures

We've had some down time so I haven't been sure what to blog about. I decided to get out the camera and start taking pictures so I could at least post those. So, over the last little while . . .

Emilee loves to eat watermelon. Usually we cut it up in small bite-sized pieces, but Britt decided to let her eat it the way watermelon is meant to be eaten.

She tried to get herself ready to go swimming one morning while I was working on other things. We did go swimming with a friend and some new people. It was lots of fun. Emilee decided that being tossed in the air in the pool is pretty fun.
She got to go to the zoo again with Grandpa and Grandma Christensen.
We also had tons of fun going to the Children's Museum today. Boy do they have some good things there. A girl from church met us there, and we spent about two hours playing around. We didn't even make it to all of the galleries. I'm not sure what part Em liked best . . . she had fun with all of it. The best pictures I got were of her painting. Oh, let me tell you, I was not planning on that, but they assured me the paint is all washable. :)
Since there were lots of pictures, I made a slideshow to get the most out of it. Just click the "x" on the slideshow to close down the ad for superpoke!pets.

From the Scriptures

I guess I have more time on my hands now that we're a bit more settled in our routine, and now that I don't really have a job outside the home. That being said, I am subjecting the general public to my private thoughts. We have been studying the Old Testament this year in Sunday School, and I am excited that I found some things out on my own while studying the scriptures. I made a little graphic to illustrate my thoughts/findings. Please forgive me for my nerdiness.
